Course Structure and Schedule

The Academic German Year consists of three modules:

Module I           Courses A1 and A2 (beginner level)
Module II

Courses B1 and B2 (intermediate level)

Module IIICourse C1 (advanced level) and preparation course for the DSH examination

The course schedule for the academic year is as follows:

Module IOctober – February
Module IIFebruary – June
Module III June – Sepember
Winter break2 weeks in December/January
Summer break4 weeks in August


Programme Fee

The programme fee for the whole year amounts to € 3.490,00 to be paid in two instalments. For detailed information about the payment modalities please consult the Applications page. In addition, there is a "Studentenwerksbeitrag" of € 72,00 to be paid every semester.

A number of extracurricular activities will be offered, including a guided tour of Passau, a sightseeing boat trip on the Danube, a visit to an organ concert in the world-famous Passau cathedral, movies, sports, excursions to local businesses and many more…


Each module will conclude with a final examination. On passing the German DSH examination, candidates will be awarded a DSH certificate: this certificate serves as evidence that you fulfil the language requirements for admission to a German university degree course.

All courses are taught in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
